2010-2011 Holy Trinity Dress Code
(Kindergarten-8th Grade)
It is a decision of the Board of Education that all students will abide by the Holy Trinity Dress Code. Parents are expected to help the school enforce the dress code policy. All students must come to school in dress code - changing at school in the mornings will not be allowed.
If a student is not in dress code attire when arriving to school, the following procedure will be followed:
1. Parent will be contacted by the office.
2. Parent will provide dress code attire to the student at that time.
3. If attire is not provided for the student, consequence will be issued.
(Grades 4-8 Detention) (Grades K-3 Loss of Privilege)
The clothing items in this dress code can be found in area stores and catalogs. Clothing that does not conform to these guidelines may not be worn at school. All clothing must be worn in the manner intended, (i.e. no shirts/jackets tied around the waist).
PANTS:
- Black, navy blue or khaki dress slacks; corduroy, polyester or cotton twill in good condition.
- No denim, cargo pant/side pockets, loops, or labels.
- No stretch pants, stirrups, leggings, or sweatpants.
- Pants must have a hem, fit appropriately, and be worn at the waist.
SHORTS/SKORTS/CAPRIS:
- Black, navy blue or khaki walking/dress shorts/skorts/capris; corduroy, polyester or cotton twill.
- Shorts/skorts/capris may be worn in August, September, October, April, May and June.
- These items of dress may not be shorter than 3” from the middle of the knee, must have a hem and fit appropriately.
SKIRT/JUMPER:
- Black, navy blue or khaki.
- May not be shorter than 3” from the middle of the knee.
Specific plaid jumpers/skirts will also be available for special order.
SHIRT:
Each student will be required to purchase a red Holy Trinity logo polo shirt to be worn on designated days, such as field trips or special class activities. RED SHIRTS WILL ALSO BE WORN EVERY WEDNESDAY. (All school Mass days) Logo shirts in additional colors will also be available for purchase.
- Any solid color long or short sleeve polo knit in a traditional cut is acceptable.
- Shirts are required to be tucked in at all times.
- Logos may not be larger than a quarter in size except for approved Holy Trinity or Dowling logos.
- Shirts may have no more than two buttons unbuttoned at the top
- Shirts must fit appropriately -not too baggy and not too tight.
- Dress Code shirts may be worn in conjunction with a solid white short or long sleeved undershirt only.
SWEATER:
- Sweaters may be any solid color, but must not fall below the waist.
- Cardigan, vest, v-neck, crew neck.
- Dress code shirt MUST be worn underneath.
SWEATSHIRTS/FLEECE JACKETS:
- Any solid color crewneck, “Holy Trinity” or “Dowling” sweatshirt (Non-hooded).
- Fleece jackets with a Dowling or Holy Trinity logo are acceptable.
- Dress code shirt MUST be worn underneath.
SHOES:
- Dress shoes (brown, black, navy).
- Tennis shoes.
- Hiking boots (non-military).
- Fully enclosed heel and toe.
- Tennis shoes are encouraged for students in grades K-5 for playground and physical education activities.
SOCKS:
- Socks are required with all footwear.
- Socks must be visible.
- Solid color tights are permitted.
BELTS:
- Required for Grades 2 – 8.
- Belts must be worn with clothing that has belt loops.
- Extra belt length may not hang down.
- Solid black, brown or navy in leather or leather type material. Belt may be either smooth or woven.
HAIR:
- Hair must be well groomed at all times.
- Hair must not fall below the earlobes or collar for boys.
- Girls must have long hair styled such that it does not distract them in the classroom.
- When applicable, students must be clean-shaven.
- Extreme hair styles and/or extreme unnatural hair color is not allowed.
JEWELRY/ TATOOS:
- Girls may wear stud style earrings only.
- All other jewelry is to be inconspicuous and appropriate.
- Students may not have any visible tattoos or ink (including temporary tattoos).
- Make up must be natural in style.
JEANS DAYs:
- Jeans Days are scheduled throughout the year.
- Please visit the school calendar on the web site for scheduled jeans days.
The following may be worn on jeans day:
- Solid colored Jeans with no holes.
- Appropriate shirts. (T-shirts, turtlenecks, button downs, sweatshirts, fleece, etc. No inappropriate writing.) No sleeveless shirts or tank tops.
REQUIRED ATTIRE FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
- 6th-8th grade students – shorts/ sweatpants
- T-shirt/ sweatshirt /socks /tennis shoes
- Shorts may not be shorter than 3” from the middle of the knee, must have a hem and fit appropriately.
- K-5th grade students - socks and tennis shoes.
PICTURE DAY:
- Pictures are scheduled every fall and spring.
- No family is obligated to purchase pictures.
- Students may wear dress code or “dress up” clothing for picture day.
- Jeans are not acceptable.
